Why Does My Employer Put Funds in an SF MRA?

SF workers, did you know your employer may be setting aside funds for your health?

Through San Francisco City Option (SFCO), workers in SF can get money to use for covered health costs. This health benefit is called a San Francisco Medical Reimbursement Account (SF MRA), and it’s funded by your employer.

The goal of an SF MRA is to you achieve and maintain their best health.

Learn More About Your Employer and SF City Option

Due to local laws, employers must provide health benefits for eligible workers. SF City Option is a health benefits program that employers choose for their workers to follow the law.

Once an employer deposits funds into the SFCO program, they should give you a Health Care Payment Confirmation Notice.  SFCO will also send you more information by mail 1 to 3 weeks after your employer makes their first deposit.

After you enroll in the SF MRA benefit, that money is yours to use! You can still access your funds if you change jobs or move away. Just make sure to keep your account active by sending in claims for reimbursement.

How SF MRA Funds Can Help You Cover Costs

SF MRA funds can help you get money back for expenses made by you or your family. You can use funds in your SF MRA to cover the cost of doctor visits, prescription medicines, dental care, vision services, and much more.
