Use SF MRA Funds to Keep Your Heart Healthy

According to the CDC, heart disease remains the top cause of death for both men and women in the United States. The most common type of heart disease is coronary artery disease (CAD). CAD can lead to a heart attack.

Symptoms of a heart attack include:

  • Chest pain
  • Feeling weak or light-headed
  • Pain in your arms or shoulders
  • Shortness of breath

You can lower your risk for CAD and other types of heart diseases by eating a healthy diet, maintaining a healthy weight, staying active, and not smoking.

It’s also important to visit your doctor regularly to monitor your blood pressure and your heart health. In some cases, medicine prescribed by your doctor may be necessary to help you lower your risk.

Your SF MRA funds can be used to reimburse you for doctor visits, health screenings, prescription medications, lab fees, and many other heart health expenses, such as:

  • Cardiograph fees
  • Fitness trackers
  • Pedometer
  • Smartwatches
  • Medical alert bracelets
  • Medical supplies

Heart monitors and exercise programs are potentially eligible for reimbursement with a provider’s statement.
